Step One
Stone Selection
Our master gemologists travel to the world's finest sources — Sri Lankan sapphire mines, Colombian emerald deposits, and Burmese ruby fields — to hand-select each stone. Every gemstone is evaluated for color saturation, clarity, cut precision, and that indescribable inner fire.
Step Two
Certification & Grading
Each selected gemstone undergoes rigorous independent certification. We document every characteristic — from exact carat weight to microscopic inclusions — ensuring complete transparency. Your stone's certificate is its passport, guaranteeing authenticity for generations.
Step Three
Design & Sketching
Our designers create multiple hand-drawn sketches exploring different angles, proportions, and settings. We consider how light will dance through the stone, how the metal will embrace it, and how the piece will feel against your skin. Each concept is refined until it perfectly honors the stone's character.
Step Four
3D Modeling & Prototyping
The chosen design is translated into a precise 3D digital model where every millimeter is calculated. We then create a wax prototype — a physical preview of the final piece — allowing you to see and feel the design before any precious metal is cast.
Step Five
Casting & Metalwork
Master craftsmen cast the piece in your chosen precious metal — whether 18K gold, platinum, or rose gold — using the lost-wax casting method perfected over centuries. The raw casting is then meticulously filed, shaped, and refined by hand to its intended finish.
Step Six
Stone Setting
The most delicate stage — our stone setters secure each gemstone by hand using techniques passed down through generations. Whether it's a classic prong setting, a secure bezel, or intricate pavé, every stone is placed with absolute precision and locked securely in place.
Step Seven
Quality Inspection
Before any piece leaves our atelier, it undergoes a comprehensive 27-point quality inspection. We examine every prong, every surface, every angle under 10x magnification. We test clasps, verify metal purity, and ensure the piece meets the exacting standards that define Catherina & Co.
Step Eight
Presentation & Delivery
